Lemon Grades and Sizes

Lemon Produce comes in different shapes and sizes. We combine Lemons of uniform characteristics into their grade and size. The following document outlines those characteristics.

Grades

Grading ensures that the physical characteristics of the lemon bulbs are categorised into three classifications

Premium

• Lemon are mature green(light green) with a glossy shine.
• They have the longest shelf life post harvest.
• They are in uniform shape and size.
• They do not have any physical, pest and disease spots on them.

Grade Equivalent˳

Standard

• Lemons are yellow green with a partial glossy shine.
• They have lesser shelf life post harvest compared to Premium Grade.
• They are mostly in uniform shape and size.
• They may have spots due to slight skin defects, physical handling, pest and disease (< 1sq.cm in radius). Yet, they don’t affect the lemon

Grade Equivalent

No Grade

• Lemons are of mix colour ranging between mature green and bright yellow. They have rough skin.
• They have short shelf life post harvest compared to other grade.
• They are not in uniform shape and size.
• They may have spots due to skin defect, physical handling, pest and disease(~ 2sq.cm in radius ). Yet, they don’t affect the lemon.

Sizes

Lemon are grouped on the size of their diameter. The following sizes are arranged from largest to smallest.

Large

• Each lemon is greater than 45mm (L>45mm).

Size Equivalent

Medium

• Each lemon is greater than 30 mm and lesser than 45 mm(30mm< M< 45mm).

Size Equivalent

Small

• Each lemon is lesser than 30 mm (S< 30mm).

Size Equivalent
